Wessex ECOEnergy’s Workplace Charging

Workplace charging is in demand!  With the electric vehicle market growing exponentially, your staff are probably staring to ask when they can charge their EV’s at work.  There are loads of reasons to get involved:

  • Increase staff benefits like reduced benefit in kind tax (BIK TAX).
  • Embrace the renewable energy charge and actively reduce your emissions.
  • Move your own fleet to electric.
  • Make use of Government grants like the workplace charger scheme (WCS).

How do I qualify for the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)?

  • You must have sufficient off-street parking for your electric vehicles.
  • While you do not need to currently have electric vehicles as part of your fleet, you will need to express an existing or future need for the business as part of the online application.
  • You must have the charging station installed by an OLEV-approved workplace charging station installer like Wessex ECOEnergy.

How does the Workplace Charging Scheme work?

The WCS is a voucher based system and this must be filled in prior to installation.

  • First you complete an online application – please follow this link – https://www.apply-workplace-chargepoint-grant.service.gov.uk/
  • If successful you will be emailed a voucher code which you can then present to your OLEV-approved installer which your installer will then use to claim the grant post installation.
  • The voucher code is valid for 120 days from the date of issue and then expires.

What are the benefits of electric car charging stations for businesses?

Workplace charging is ideal, because cars are parked there for long periods (employee vehicles during work hours, fleet vehicles overnight).

  • Your business can save more than £1,000 a year in commercial fleet and employee fuel costs per 10,000 miles.
  • Your business can offer electric vehicle charging to your employees which will become essential.
  •  Reduce employee “benefit in kind” tax for company cars.
  • A green fleet can help reduce CO2 emissions and the public will view your business in a more positive way.

Why Choose Wessex ECOEnergy As Your Electric Vehicle Charge Point Installer For Your Business?

We take the unknowns out of an installation and charge you a site survey fee (based on location) so that we can ascertain the exact costs to install an EV Charger.  This way there are no surprises and you receive excellent service and working chargers the first time.

Wessex ECOEnergy is a specialist installer of hi-tech energy solutions and we focus on providing clients with the best available technologies for their needs.  If you have or are interested in a solar array the best charger to consider is a Zappi charger from Myenergi.  Please watch the fully charged video above to find out how it works and charges your car with Solar Energy.

There are some important factors to consider when installing a new EV charger:

  • Charger location in comparison to the consumer unit?
  • Charger access and security?
  • Is data required?
  • Will the business charge your staff for usage?
  • The existing load on your main fuse?
  • Your current Earthing?
  • Do you qualify for the OLEV grant (up to £500 contribution to the costs)?
  • The connector types (1 or 2)?

INSTALLATION: ALL INSTALLERS ARE NOT THE SAME!
There are lots of adverts with very low install prices, as a business owner please be aware that low price means a job needs to be completed very quickly.  If you want the job completed correctly, safely and to a high standard please get in touch.

QUESTIONS TO ASK AN INSTALLER?

  • Have they discussed your eligibility for the WCS OLEV grant?
  • Do they know your existing earthing classification?
  • Do they follow the IET guidelines for EV charge point installation?
  • Have they carried out a load assessment to ensure your charger can operate safely?
  • Will they notify your local DNO (District Network Operator): Enter your postcode on this website to find out: DNO PROVIDER.

Wessex ECOEnergy is the number one electric vehicle charging point installer in Dorset, Devon & Hampshire and is approved by the Government department OLEV.  We can install to suit your needs and can offer in most cases a maximum OLEV grant of £500 towards your installation. The installation will be done with a minimum of disturbance to your business and all installations are carried out by the NAPIT-approved installation teams we currently receive referrals directly from a number of car manufacturers.
