EV Charger Installation Somerset

If you have solar panels on your home in Somerset and you possess an electric car, you would be well served by investing in a Zappi EV charger installation.

The solar panels on your roof combined with an EV installation of this new kind, in Somerset, could potentially give you quite a lot of what is basically free energy and the installation is quite simple (there may be some rewiring that needs to be done). This innovative EV charger installation in Somerset can be located in various places in your home: out of sight on a post in your garden, in your garage or at the side of your house.

The EV charger has 2 modes. Eco mode and Eco-plus mode. Eco mode will use green energy from wind or solar but will tap into the main energy supply if needed. Eco-plus will only use surplus power and therefore will only work where there are solar panels (or a wind turbine). If you did decide to have a Zappi EV charger installed in the Somerset area, what you will be getting in return for your investment will often be energy for literally nothing.

In the case of Eco-plus, then, how does the EV charger know to use just the power that is coming from the solar panels? What happens is this: a CT clamp will be fixed around the meter tails (a wireless version is currently R&D stage) which will give the Zappi the information as to what amount of energy is about to be exported to the grid.  It then diverts the energy into charging up your car.  It is the only EV on the market to do this. Depending on what setting you have chosen,  if you want it to charge up the car using the greenest method, your car will not get a constant supply in Eco-plus mode, as it would if it was plugged into the mains, rather, power will be exported to it at intervals. This is ideal if you are not in a rush to charge up and you just want that free energy – simply set it to import only when energy is available. This can be overridden should you need to take the car out by changing the setting to FAST.  The regular energy that the solar panels produce for your home will be read by the Zappi which can in turn measure what is being sent out into the grid and then take the surplus to be put into your electric car.  This is the fundamental difference between the two modes. Alternatively, on Eco mode, it would carry on charging to maintain the power and need to take from the mains electricity also.

What makes the Zappi incredibly special is that it communicates with your car. As there is a lot of time in a 24-hour period when you are not using your car, so, potentially, there is always the opportunity to top-up using your EV installation on an availability-only ‘green’ basis.  In Eco-plus mode, if you begin to use an appliance indoors then energy for use of that appliance will take precedence over overtopping up the car. Again, this can be altered as the Zappi has a lot of clever settings and a great deal of functionality.

Data is locked into the Zappi so you can monitor what you have saved right from the very first day of installation. At the moment the device is a standalone device but an app is being developed to be used with internet control.
