Jaguar Land Rover has announced that the Jaguar brand will be all-electric by 2025 and that Land Rover will release their first electric vehicle by 2024.
It is unsurprising that motor manufacturers are redesigning their vehicles since the sale of diesel and petrol vehicles will not be permitted following 2030. So, companies such as Jaguar Land Rover are adapting and revolutionizing their brand to compete with the electric car market leader: Tesla.
Jaguar Land Rover was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic – seeing sales drop by 24% during 2020. However, the news that the company will switch to electric brings hope as Mike Hawes, the Chief Executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Trades, said that the move will “inject confidence” to the brand as they realign to greener future standards.
Jaguar I-PACE
An example of one of Jaguar’s current electric vehicles is the I-PACE (pictured above).
This car has a 90kWh battery and is said to travel up to 292 miles on a single charge.
The speed of the car is pretty good too since you can go 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds.
In regards to charging, the brand says that on a 7kW AC home charger, you can fully charge your vehicle overnight or, you can travel 22 miles from an 60 minute charge.
Whilst the charging of all electric cars attracts the most contention. The cost to power the vehicle per mile in an electric vehicle is significantly cheaper than fuel (5.7p: 17.9p respectively).
Therefore, over a three year period you could save around £3,600 from using electric over fossil fuels.
Wessex ECOEnergy
At Wessex Eco Energy we are trained and assured electric vehicle charge point installers.
We offer a range of charge points for clients wanting to transition to electric with our favorite being the ‘Zappi’: a charge point that enables you to power your car using your micro-generated energy from solar (if you have it installed). Although, if you do not have solar PV installed on your property, this charge point still is a great option as it can run off your homes power and helps future proof your property.
Above it the Zappi EV Charger from Wessex ECOEnergy. This British charger is a great option for homes and businesses. See HERE for more info.
