Is the idea of solar just an eco-trend that is just a waste of time? Is it really sunny enough in the UK for solar to even work?

However, the sun moves from East to West during the day so for most homes, the sun will be at an angle for most of the time, regardless.

Being as close as possible to south facing is only once factor. A roof facing east or west could still provide you with enough savings to warrant getting solar installed in Somerset.
